The School Formal Photography Timeline: Arrivals to Highlight Film

A school formal is one night with no do-overs, so the photography and production schedule has to be planned as tightly as the run sheet itself.

Arrivals

This is where most of the photography for the night happens, in a short window. A dedicated arrivals set-up — backdrop, lighting and a photographer plus videographer — means every student and group gets a proper portrait and a cinematic arrival as they walk in, without banking up the queue behind them.

Through the night

Once arrivals wind down, coverage shifts to candid photography across the venue and dance floor — speeches, group moments and the parts of the night that are impossible to stage. If the night includes staging, lighting or live streaming for family who could not attend, that is coordinated through the same production team rather than a separate supplier.

After the night

• Portraits and candids are edited and delivered to a private online gallery
• A highlight film, if booked, follows as a separate edited deliverable
• Guests can browse and download directly rather than waiting on a shared folder — the same gallery system we use for every shoot we deliver
