Swimming Photo Day: Poolside & Presentation Tips

Swimming photo days are a little different from field sports — most photos happen poolside rather than mid-race, so presentation and posture matter more than action blur.

Before you're photographed - Bring your club cap and goggles even if you won't wear them for every shot — they're often used as a prop for individual portraits. - Dry off and towel down before a portrait shot — dripping wet hair and skin can catch the light awkwardly. - Club or team swimwear on, with any competition numbers or markings visible if that's part of your club's photo-day standard.

Posing tips - Starting-block shots: crouched, focused stance with eyes forward reads much stronger than a static standing pose. - For a relaxed portrait, one hand resting on the lane rope or pool edge looks natural — avoid crossing both arms tightly across the chest. - Cap and goggles can be worn up on the forehead rather than fully on, for a portrait where your face needs to be clearly visible. - Presentation and medal photos: hold the medal or trophy at chest height, angled slightly toward the camera rather than flat against your body.
