Netball Photo Day: Team & Action Shot Tips

Netball photo days usually combine a team portrait with action across different positions — here's how to prepare for both.

Team photos - Full playing kit including bib, with the bib sitting flat and readable — check it isn't twisted or folded before the photo. - Teams typically arrange from tallest at the back to shortest at the front, in one or two rows depending on squad size. - Hold a netball at hip height or rest it against the hip for a natural, uniform look across the team. - Hair pulled back and earrings removed per usual match rules — it also photographs more cleanly than loose hair across the face.

Action shots - Shooting circle action (arms extended, eyes on the ring) makes for a strong hero shot — hold your follow-through for a beat longer than feels natural. - Defensive positions (arms spread, low stance, active footwork) are just as photogenic as attacking plays. - Centre-pass and mid-court movement shots work best with a bit of separation between players, so ask your coach to space the drill out if it's a posed action sequence. - Keep your focus on the ball or your opponent rather than the camera — it reads as far more natural in the final photo.
