The brief

Careers fairs are busy and nobody has booked a time slot. Students drift past between classes, and any process that takes more than a minute loses them. The guild wanted every student who stopped to walk away with a usable professional headshot — and did not want to spend the following two weeks matching photographs to names.

01

Sign-in

A QR code instead of a clipboard

Students scanned a code and typed their name and email on their own phone, in about thirty seconds, while queueing. Nobody stood at a laptop spelling surnames, and the queue never stopped moving for admin.

02

The shoot

181 people, 3.7 hours

One person every 74 seconds on average, including the ones who wanted three goes at their smile. 1,925 frames in total, each one attributed to a person at the moment it was taken rather than sorted out later.

03

Delivery

A private gallery each

Every student received their own link and access code. They saw their photos and nobody else’s — which is the part that matters when the subjects are students and the client is a university.

04

The result

71% opened it

Galleries went out within 3 days of the shoot. 71% of students had opened theirs within days, and between them they tried plain backgrounds on their portraits 700 times — turning an event photo into a headshot they could actually use.

Every student who stopped walked away with a headshot they could put on LinkedIn that week.

Average rating from the students who left one: 5 out of 5.
